Well, what would you guess? I just finish refoaming the woofers on my PS-10s after putting it off for months and I discover one of the tweeters is open.

Here's the culprit:

I'm not sure my hands are steady enough to repair that and I definitely know even my smallest iron tip is too big and too hot (will burn up the magnet wire rather than solder it).

So, does anyone have one of these laying around or know where I might find a working unit for a reasonable price?

Thanks,
- JP

Thanks for the offer, Paul. The need isn't that big of deal now as per usual this time of night, I became both impatient and ambitious. So, I went ahead, filed down the tip of my soldering iron, and repaired the tweeter.

The work bench/computer desk with the typical collection of scroungy tools:

Listening to the PS-10s right now. The imaging is pretty good, the bass isn't too bad, though it is a bit one note. There is some upper midrange/lower treble harshness that could be fatiguing. Maybe it's my repair, though it's present with both, or the electrolytic caps.

That's the finest scale repair I've done yet, had to pull out the magnifying glass for this one to make sure of what I'd done.

Nice Simpson. I have one a little older than yours, with the recessed pins that take the female test leads. Brand new. Never had batteries installed. Thanks to the government.
