i recently went through some changes in my room configuration and think i have found the best possible setup that my room will allow.

a big part of this was getting something suitable to hold the receivers and cdp. i addressed this with a basic (read cheap) Ikea table with the castors left off. it is placed away from the wall to allow clearance for the side firing woofers of the AR-9's.

now for the first time, i have the 9's set up with the recommended 3 feet of clearance on each side. the result is an overall smoother presentation with the lows being delivered at their fullest. this has also allowed me to run the system without using any equalization for the first time.

before (ignore the AR-91's on top, the normal setup is without them),

and after.

Major improvement Scott. Why is that sweet 2020 hidden on the bottom shelf?

good question, and good eye Mark. due to the limitations of the shelf, it was necessary to put the heaviest piece on the bottom where it wouldnt cause any structural stress. it was also moved further to the rear of the shelf, in order to maximize clearance for heat dissipation.

what you cannot see in the photo's are the spacers that rest on top of the CR-2020 in order to support the weight of the R-117.

i'm sure you can. they can still over power the room with ease.

From what he has told me, yes a huge improvement from the last time we heard dungus's system. I think he said, more focused and less tubby. hopefully I will get over there soon to give it a listen. as he helped me bi-amp my vandy's. pictures of my system soon to follow
