i recently went through some changes in my room configuration and think i have found the best possible setup that my room will allow.
a big part of this was getting something suitable to hold the receivers and cdp. i addressed this with a basic (read cheap) Ikea table with the castors left off. it is placed away from the wall to allow clearance for the side firing woofers of the AR-9's. now for the first time, i have the 9's set up with the recommended 3 feet of clearance on each side. the result is an overall smoother presentation with the lows being delivered at their fullest. this has also allowed me to run the system without using any equalization for the first time. before (ignore the AR-91's on top, the normal setup is without them), ![]() and after. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- Teledyne AR9, Yamaha B-2x, Yamaha M-2, Hafler DH-110, EAD DSP 1000, Wadia WT-3200.

Nice looking system.

Major improvement Scott. Why is that sweet 2020 hidden on the bottom shelf?

Much better Scott. Now you just need a huge plasma TV ont he wall :>) I'm guessing the bass quality is far superior to how it was before?

good question, and good eye Mark. due to the limitations of the shelf, it was necessary to put the heaviest piece on the bottom where it wouldnt cause any structural stress. it was also moved further to the rear of the shelf, in order to maximize clearance for heat dissipation. what you cannot see in the photo's are the spacers that rest on top of the CR-2020 in order to support the weight of the R-117. -------------------- Teledyne AR9, Yamaha B-2x, Yamaha M-2, Hafler DH-110, EAD DSP 1000, Wadia WT-3200.

thanks guys, i have plenty of room on the top shelf. i'm toying with the idea bringing the B&O tt out of the bedroom system for a while. dont have much in the way of vinyl, but there are a couple of gems in there.
